July 12th festivities open with the Perry Community Bike Ride - Tour de Per-RY, with registration at the Perry Village Park, Lake Street. Riders can choose from the more challenging Letchworth Loop or the traditional Loop de Lake, with mass starts at 8:30 and 8:45AM, respectively. Both routes will lead riders to a joyous finish in Perry's downtown.

Downtown at 8:30AM, chalking begins for all artists, who will work on the the theme "What Inspires You?" Also at 8:30, the Perry Farmers' Market and the Perry Public Market open on the corner of Borden and Main St. In addition to the usual high-quality produce and delicious homemade products, there will be vendors and crafters of all kinds. Enjoy live music all day, including Eden bluegrass phenomenon Creekbend and hometown favorite Kelly's Old Timers. Acquire original face art by Mugsy the Clown, craft with the Girl Scouts, get drawn by a caricaturist, and just enjoy the spirit and warmth of a delightful summer day in downtown Perry.

Chalking concludes at 1PM with a recognition of artists and closing ceremony at 1:30PM.

About the Artists

Master Chalker - Kath Schifano

Kath Schifano's studio is based in Grand Island, NY. Kath taught high school art in Niagara Falls and for 20 years trained student chalking teams for competition in the highly selective Lewiston Art Festival. The hard edge and wet work pastel techniques Kath developed propelled her teams to win many 'People's Choice' and cash awards. Kath will demonstrate these and other techniques as part of her appearance at the Perry Chalk Art Festival.

Since retirement Kath has become a year-round active plein art painter (a unique accomplishment in light of the WNY weather)! Kath's work can be found in private collections in eleven states, various juried shows and local galleries.

Creek Bend specializes in contemporary and traditional bluegrass with a smattering of Cajun, country and humor. They've won the Gettysburg and Erie County Fair Bluegrass Championships and their recordings have been hailed with critical acclaim.

BandKelly's Old Timers need no introduction! Be ready to square dance, waltz, polka, or just tap your toes and have fun.
