Last year's information: Be inspired at the 2010 Perry Chalk Art Festival! Watch trained artists create pastel masterpieces, cheer teens competing for chalking prizes, and let youngsters chalk to their heart's content while you enjoy the fine music! CYCLING July 10th festivities open with the Perry Community Bike Ride - Tour de Per-RY, with registration at the Perry Village Park, Lake Street. Riders can choose from the more challenging Letchworth Loop, the traditional Loop de Lake, or the short Round About Town Route with mass starts at 8:30 and 8:45AM, respectively. All routes will lead riders to a joyous finish in Perry's downtown. CHALKING AND SHOPPING Downtown at 8:30AM, chalking begins for adult artists, who will work on the the theme "In the Garden" Also at 8:30, the Perry Farmers' Market and the Perry Public Market open on the corner of Borden and Main St. In addition to the usual high-quality produce and delicious homemade products, there will be vendors and crafters of all kinds. At 9:00AM, teen artists begin their works. Use your quarters to vote for your favorite art work to receive a People's Choice Award. MUSIC Enjoy live music all day, including Eden bluegrass phenomenon Creekbend and hometown favorite Kelly's Old Timers. TASTE OF SUMMER After feasting your eyes on fantastic chalk art, enjoy a "Taste of Summer" from 11am-1pm. Ten regional restaurants and caterers will offer delectable dishes inspired by our “In the Garden” theme. Your ticket purchase includes a sample of each restaurant's creation . Tickets are available at participating restaurants, here or at the Chalk Art Festival event. OTHER ACTIVITIES Watch Wyoming County 4-Hers put their canine companions through their paces at the Dog Agility, Obedience and Rally-O Presentation. Two performances. Get in the spirit, grab some chalk and add a flower or two to our downtown "garden". Place your bid on dozens of items in the Chance Auction. Acquire original face art by Mugsy the Clown, craft with the Girl Scouts, create sand art in the sandboxes and just enjoy the spirit and warmth of a delightful summer day in downtown Perry. FESTIVAL FINALE Chalking concludes at 1PM with a recognition of artists, and closing ceremony at 1:30PM.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS Briana Coogan Bassett, 24, resides in Warsaw, NY with her golden retriever, 19 year old cat, and gigantic Himalayan kitten. She graduated from Genesee Community College with a degree in Fine Art in spring 2009. Her artwork focuses on nature and is primarily inspired by animals.
Briana has participated as an artist at the last two Perry Chalk Festivals, and in 2009, she was awarded the Perry Chalk Art Festival Artists' Choice Award.
Creek Bend - specializes in contemporary and traditional bluegrass with a smattering of Cajun, country and humor. They've won the Gettysburg and Erie County Fair Bluegrass Championships and their recordings have been hailed with critical acclaim.
Kelly's Old Timers - This local favorite and Perry tradition has been performing for over 60 years! Be ready to square dance, waltz, polka, or just tap your toes and have fun when they perform at the Chalk Art Festival.

MAP & DIRECTIONS ![]() Downtown Perry, Corner of Borden & Main Streets (2), is the key location for the July festivities. The section of Borden from Main Street to Spring Street will be closed to vehicle traffic, and detour signs will be in place to provide directions. Perry Village Park (5) can be reached by turning off North Center St (Rte 246) in the Village onto Lake Street. The Park will be on your right. |
